Recycled PVB

Shark Solutions A/S runs a unique division where we recycle PVB from pre-processed windshields! This division is the market leaders in its field, serving major glass recyclers around the world.

These recyclers process windshields and other types of laminated glass, but they invariably end up with a residual of laminate – technically called PVB, (PolyVinyl Butyral). Stuck on this PVB laminate there remains some 8-15% glass particles. We call this PVB-scrap and we can process it!

PVB Shark Solutions has developed a technology to process this PVB-scrap, into ready-to-use-products, in several quality PVB applications. This technology is world patent protected. As we are able to process this PVB-scrap, we, and our partners in the glass recycling industry as a whole, are able to recover PVB from the huge post-consumer laminated glass market. This PVB-scrap, which used to end up as landfill, or be burned, is now turned into reusable products with the added advantage of sparing the environment.

Our PVB production is increasing almost daily, and currently we process several hundred tons per month at one facility in Denmark! We work with leading glass recyclers in Europe, and handle their PVB-scrap in our recycling plant.

As the demand for recycled PVB grows throughout the world, so too does our PVB division and we are, therefore, now planning new production facilities around the world.

All our Recycled PVB is free of glass.

We process 3 grades of recycled PVB:

Click to enlarge	PVB category 1 is white (>98% white PVB) – and free of all contamination. Haze below 10. This grade is for visual PVB applications.

Click to enlarge	PVB category 2 is most white PVB (>96% white PVB of total PVB) and contains up to 2% contamination in terms of plastics, etc. This grade is used for many applications, due to the fantastic technical attributes of PVB.

Click to enlarge	PVB category 3 is colour mixed PVB (>70% coloured PVB of total PVB) and contains up to 4% contamination in terms of plastics, rubber, etc.

We can add special additives to avoid PVB from sticking or clumping during transport and storage – as well as removing the typical smell of PVB.
